About the artist

Significantly, most paintings are inspired by events, themes, emotions, photos or surroundings. No matter who the artist, be it, Van Gogh, Matisse, Pollack or Richter they all had a point of inspiration. Whereas portrait paintings were based on real-life abstract and other movements these were based on the individual’s subconscious, an instinct based on emotions or events that have inspired, angered or upset them in the past.

All art is borne from matter be it human, natural or psychological. The influences artists have are manifested from the surroundings and experiences they have encountered. To draw on them and then channel them onto paper or any medium is a process that some creatives are gifted with. Through personal development and practice, artists rely on their creativity to pursue themes and new styles along the way. Some of the biggest mistakes made in human history turn out to be the biggest learning curve.

My inspiration for my abstract art pieces are based on my life and the colours I have grown up with. Living in a small village I was surrounded by inspiration and colours that have lived with me.

The modern arts, films or television programmes are one such stream but it can be visualised from the cultural debate, social movements or historical figures. Mythology is a deep-rooted theme for me and I examine the colours I believe reflect Greek, Roman or Norse gods. Emotional thoughts or experiences have played a big part in my journey and there are some pieces I have painted that stay private but others I am happy to share.

Whatever inspiration you use it should always be from the heart especially when painting abstract art however inspiration touches on all mediums such as music, film and other forms of art. Don’t let it hinder your output. It should be part of it. If you let it, your end piece will naturally form together and show the world your creative and instinctive creativeness.

When I create a painting for my website, for someone in particular or a place I have the following principles I use which stay true to my style: From the very start to now I have stuck to these principles so that the work I do is true to myself, my style and ongoing philosophy.

End result was a unique Christmas present for our son (13) and daughter (10), which they love. It’s magical to have a piece of art that reflects their personalities and passions. Something they’ll keep for life.

I gave Alex a brief of red, black, white which were to represent the colours of the lights at one of my favourite events and for it to represent techno music, along with dimensions and thats it, I wanted to let Alex have as much freedom to create.Im extremely happy with what Alex has created for me and it now has pride of place in my studio.

I asked Alex to create an individual piece for my brother as a Christmas gift. Alex took on board everything I said and even gave his own ideas based on what I was telling him. I was very happy with the painting, it was better than expected! My brother loved it too. It was unique. Thank you Alex! Highly recommend him
